About Casenet-MO.us
We help Missouri people read and understand court records on CaseNet, plus the basic steps of how a case moves through the courts — written in plain words, not in legal language.
Why You Won’t See Names or Photos Here
We run this site as a small team, not as one person. We chose to keep the team behind the writing instead of putting names and faces on the front. There are a few reasons for this choice:
What matters is whether the information is right. You can check every fact we share against the official Missouri court website and the state law books. The source is what counts, not the writer.
The Missouri lawyers who help us check our work do it as part of our review steps. They are not here to take on clients through this site, so we keep them out of the public part.
Our pages are written and updated by more than one person over time. Putting one name on top would not be honest about how the work really gets done.
We feel that being open about how we work is better than putting a face on a page.
Who We Are
Casenet-MO.us is a small Missouri-focused information site. To be clear about what we are and are not:
How We Write Our Guides
Every page on this site goes through four steps before it goes live. We follow the same steps for every topic so the work stays steady.
Research
- Missouri Revised Statutes (RSMo)
- Missouri Supreme Court Rules
- Official courts.mo.gov pages
- Public CaseNet help pages
Writing
- Plain everyday English
- Short, simple sentences
- Each point linked to its source
- No copying from other guide sites
Lawyer Check
- Read by a Missouri lawyer
- Bar status open to public lookup
- Used for criminal & family pages
- Done before the page goes live
Keeping It Fresh
- Last-checked date at the top
- Re-checked at least once a year
- Updated sooner if a law changes
- Change list at the bottom
What We Cover
What We Don’t Do
Just as it helps to know what we do, it helps to know what we will not do. Please read this part before you write to us:
If you need help with your own case, please talk to a Missouri lawyer. The Missouri Bar runs a free lawyer search at mobar.org.
Found a Mistake? Tell Us
If you spot something wrong on this site — an old law, a broken link, a wrong court step — please write to us. We want to hear about it.
